Part# W8001667 - J72 Propshaft/Driveline Brake Assembly

Description:
  • Replaces function of parking pawl in transmission to hold coach in place when Park position is selected. Uses internal spring force to apply self contained clutch style brake assembly. Brake is released by collapsing internal spring from hydraulic pressure provided by external electric hydraulic pump assembly.
  • Mounts on back of transmission, often called Propshaft parking brake or Driveline parking brake.

Note:
  • It is highly recommended that Part# US2078 is installed when installing this new brake. Part# US2078 prevents the brake from applying while the coach is in motion causing the damage that makes the brake not hold, and or leak.
Application:
  • Workhorse W24 2004-2007
  • Freightliner FRED Class A Motor Home Chassis (Freightliner Part# 12-21652-000)
  • Can be used on P32 / W16 / W18 J72 with 4L85E but mounting plate must be swapped from old brake assembly.

This part is on back order. do you know of anyone that rebuilds these brake assemblies? ( JOE STILLWELL, 08/09/2024 )
Hello, those are not rebuildable , however we are expecting them mid-September . You can call in and place a pre-order if needed  to ensure you get one, we are expecting to get 20 of them and a couple are already spoken for.
My brake will not release when I try to shift into Drive. The electronic shift indicator does not change out of the P indication. I just need to know if this is the correct part for the application. ( John Fleming, 09/08/2020 )
This is the correct brake assembly for your Freightliner but if it was bad, it typically would have the opposite issue in that the brake would not hold. My guess is there is an issue with your Allison transmission neutral position switch that isn't telling the brake to disengage because it thinks it is still in park.
I need to verify this is the brake assembly I need for my 2005 W24 chassis. Can you verify shipping costs to Canada postal code K7A 4S7

Also should I change the seal in the tail of transmission while changing park brake assembly?
( Jason Steacy, 08/03/2020 )
Jason, That is the correct part based on your VIN, for shipping you would have to email us your complete address. Please email to support@urvp.com. You can change that seal while you have it apart, that would not be a bad idea.
Hydraulic auto parking brake will not engage and hold the RV in place. I’ve been told if that happens the J72 parking brake unit needs to be replaced. ( Vince Thomas, 06/17/2020 )
Vince,  You would need to replace the brake on the back of the transmission. Part# W8001667 based on your VIN. Please highly consider installing the US2078 kit with that brake, as that new brake will fail again without it installed. The factory controllers and the wiring are known issues causing brake failures, this kit is a roadblock for those issues to damage the brake.
2005 Workhorse Parking brake leaking out bottom. Is W8001667 the correct number for assembly. Is a kit available. Let me know and price. Thanks. ( Victory Ford Lincoln, 05/15/2020 )
Yes W8001667 is the correct part and that is the only way to get it, no internal kit available. Contact us directly for wholesale pricing 800-417-4559.
