Description:

The Ford V10 Ultra Tune is hands down the most cost effective and noticeable performance and fuel mileage upgrade you can make to your Ford 6.8L V10 powered RV or truck. From the factory, the V10 engine's power is de-tuned and the constant transmission shifting is annoying and unnecessary. One of the most noticeable differences from stock will be the elimination of instant downshifts that occur at even the slightest of hills. Your V10 powered vehicle will now be able to maintain higher gears without the unnecessary screaming of the engine! This alone makes a great deal of difference in driving comfort and improves the fuel economy. Throttle response is greatly improved and merging onto the freeway will be much less stressful. We are not able to guarantee fuel mileage increases but the vast majority of our customers report a gain, most between ½ to 1 MPG improvement!

While most tuners rely on “canned” tune files (not custom), all our V10 Custom Tunes are tailored specifically to YOUR vehicle. We require the VIN so that we can pull up your vehicle’s specific parameters and will make a tune that is truly customized to your vehicle.

V10 Tune Power Improvements:

  • 1997-2004 All Models 2 Valve 6.8L V10 Gains of 43 Horsepower and 47 lb-ft Torque
  • 2005-2020 E-Series (E250, E350, E450) 2 Valve 6.8L V10 Gains of 43 Horsepower and 47 lb-ft Torque
  • 2005-2015 F-Series (F53, F250, F350, F450, F550) 3 Valve 6.8L V10 Gains of 52 Horsepower and 61 lb-ft Torque
  • 2016-2020 F-Series (F53, F450, F550) 3 Valve 6.8L V10 Gains of 56 HP and 73 lb-ft Torque

V10 Tune Benefits:

  • Fuel mileage improvement of up to 1 MPG
  • Drastically reduces constant downshifts on hills
  • Maintains speed and higher gears when climbing hills
  • Improved throttle response coupled with more power makes driving more enjoyable

I have a 2015 F650 Rollback tow truck it has a V10 and a torque shift automatic transmission. I can purchase an sctx4 without a problem. My question is are you able to do a tune for this vehicle that will raise or eliminate the speed limiter this is set to 75 mph and it constantly fights between 5th and 6th Gear because of that we live in Arizona in the desert with some mountains near and the inclines are almost impossible to negotiate. a boost in power and fuel economy would be good also ( Richard, 07/10/2024 )
Yes, we can do that. ( Support )
Hello, I have the last year of the V10 in my 2020 E450 motor home which is built on a 2019 chassis. The owners manual states that premium fuel is required in order to obtain rated power. I have never heard the engine ping when trying to run regular 87 octane fuel, but the power loss and loss of over 1.5 MPG is very noticeable. I'm told this engine doesn't have knock sensors, so how does it sense octane?
This only seems to be the case with the last 2 years of V10 production. How does you tuner address this?
( 06/08/2023 )
For reasons unknown, Ford decided to omit knock sensors from the 2v V10 in the E-series 6.8L V10. I have heard of customers with completely stock tunes pinging on 87 and Ford tells them it's normal. We rely on known spark advance settings to make sure we don't push it to far and create pre-detonation. These engines do perform better on 91, especially in hot climates but they are designed to run on 87 without issues. ( Support )
In 2020 I bought the "UPFORD" package (Tuner and tune) when the engine was stock. I have now installed the Banks PowerPack (Intake, headers and exhaust). Do I need to order a new tune that is optimized for the PowerPack? ( Gary B Sharrock, 02/24/2023 )
For that year model, you do not require a re-tune for the Banks PowerPack. ( Support )
I loaded your custom tune to my f350. Really happy with the power when pulling my fifth wheel however, the transmission (twice) started venting fluid while towing. Has this been an issue after the tune? Is there an adjustment that needs to be made to my tune? ( Justin Baker, 11/27/2022 )
This issue is unlikely to have been caused by the tuning but you can return to stock to see if the issue occurs then. The 5R110W transmission in your truck has a known issue of venting fluid and TransGO actually makes a kit to correct the issue: https://transgo.com/product-details/5r110-vent-stop-leak/ ( Support )
Not sure if this went through…repeat question

2001 ford e450 v10 with 90k miles.
What is a sct v4 device? Do I have one?
Also ecu strategy code…do I have one?
( M. Mizen, 06/14/2022 )

Hello, the SCT X4 is the hand held device used to load the custom tune into your vehicles Engine Control Module ( ECM/ECU /PCM , all refer to the computer that controls the engine)   So you would know if you had one of them, the ECU strategy code is what we base our custom tune on. We can get that using the VIN . You would need the UPFORD V-10 ULTRA RV TUNE , ,which includes the SCT device . The emailed Tune Only is for people that already have the SCT device .

We purchased an update and already had a device to use. Our device says that it is married to another vehicle????? We get General Error#11023 & we can't make it work. We were told that this wouldn't be a problem before we ordered the update, so we are pretty confused.
Do we do a factory reset & then reload the file?
( Michael Schubert, 06/04/2021 )
You can only use the SCT device on 1 vehicle at a time. In order to use the device on a different vehicle, you must first return the original vehicle back to stock. If you do not have the means to do this, you can contact SCT directly to have the device "unlocked". ( Support )
Will this tune up void my Ford warranty? Only have 4,435 miles on my new RV. ( Douglas J Huston, 05/19/2021 )
Having the tuner alone will not automatically void your warranty, however, if you are concerned about it we recommend just waiting until after you are out of warranty coverage. ( Support )
I am currently in the process of setting up my 2001 Ford Excursion with the 6.8 V-10 as my primary tow rig. In the past on my 5.4 2V F-150, I have ran 5 Star's tunes via a SCT iTSX tuner and have found their shifting strategy to be a bit lack luster. I've heard positive things about your software, and was wondering how your V-10 files compare.

I'm looking for an 87 or 89 octane file that will add power, and also change the shift strategy a bit. Ford's choice to constantly lock/unlock the torque converter when letting off the gas pedal at highway speeds is one specific nuisance I'd like addressed. Is it possible to have it lock at speeds above 35mph, and stay locked (unless the brake pedal is applied)?

My current modifications are a free flowing exhaust, SPD Y-Pipe, and a stock air box with enlarged intake opening.

Thank you for your time, Justin
( Justin Calhoun, 03/04/2021 )
We can definitely make a tune for your Excursion to your liking. If you order, just put the requests in the order comments box and we will set it up that way. ( Support )
I have a couple of SCT tuners, that I have bought for other vehicles that I own. Can I use one of those, buy your softwear, and still be able to use it on my other truck if needed, or will it erase everything that was on it before? ( Daniel R Morrison, 11/16/2020 )

We do offer our tune only for folks that already own SCT devices: https://www.ultrarvproducts.com/Ford-V10-UltraPower-Tune-Only

Depending on the model of SCT device you have, you can have multiple custom tunes loaded at the same time. X4's allow up to 10. The only thing you can't do, is use the device on more than one vehicle at a time.

ORDER # 13428 - 5/23/2017

I HAVE A 2011 RV WITH A V-10 THAT I GOT A TUNER FOR THINKING FOR SURE THAT IT WAS A 3 VALVE MOTOR, I JUST HAD THE COIL PACKS REPLACED AND WHEN THE MECHANIC LOOKED AT THE PLUGS HE SAID IT WAS RUNNING A LITTLE LEAN. HE ALSO BOUGHT 3 VALVE COIL PACKS AND FOUND OUT IT WAS A TWO VALVE MOTOR. I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE THE TUNE I HAVE IS FOR A 2 VALVE MOTOR AND NOT A THREE VALVE MOTOR. IT HAS RUN ON THIS TUNE FOR ABOUT 50,000 MILES TROUBLE FREE BUT WE HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE MOTOR BECAUSE IT WENT DOWN DO TO A LEAN CONDITION.
( mike ildvad, 07/26/2020 )
All of the E-series Ford's used the 2 valve head design, which we would have tuned to by the VIN and strategy code. The tune wouldn't cause the engine to run lean but you can return to stock to do the diagnostics if that is helpful to the mechanic. ( Support )
I purchased a SCT X4 that came with it's tune software and I loaded it on my 2011 E450 and it solved most of the shifting issues. Is this a different tune than what came with my X4 that I loaded?
Are they improved after time? I'm happy with mine but always room for improvement.
( Tim, 01/29/2020 )
The SCT devices come pre-loaded with tune files for some vehicles, but these are just base files that SCT has put together without much real world testing. Custom tuning changes a lot more parameters and is real world and dyno tested extensively versus just modification based on theory. ( Support )
